Who Impressed?
By Caiden Russell | 8/11/25
The 2025 Los Angeles Rams season kicked off on Saturday night, with the beginning of the NFL Preseason. The Rams faced off against the Cowboys.Â
All notable starters were benched throughout the game but Rams fans were able to witness some young players get their first snaps in the pros, or in some cases; their best snaps in the pros thus far.
With that said, we compiled our favorites from the game. Rankings are in no particular order.
WR - Brennan Presley
Presley was put in towards the end and had multiple solid plays. The biggest being a 38 yard kickoff return late in the game. He also had a receiving touchdown to seal the win for the Rams.
The stat line doesn't show how Brennan truely played, watch his tape if you have the opportunity to! You will not be disappointed.
I sincerely hope he's given more of a chance to shine against the Chargers in this week's game.
Game Stats:
2 Receptions
11 Yards
1 Touchdown
1 Return
38 Yards
QB - Stetson Bennett IV
Going into this season, everyone knew Bennett had to take a step up. By this point, everyone knows he likely isn't the future at the QB position, but the hope remains he could be a great, consistent backup.
Stetson Bennett came into this game and did not disappoint. He made multiple incredible throws, including a 4th & 6 downfield conversion on a 36-yard grab by Xavier Smith.
Unlike the player of previous years, Stetson looked fully in control. He continued to make good read after good read. Unfortunately he did throw an interception, though it is easy to argue that the interception was not his fault.
Hopefully Stetson can continue this into the next game against the Chargers, on August 16th.
Game Stats:
24 Attempts
16 Completions
188 Yards
2 Touchdowns
1 Interception
3 Rushes
11 Yards
OL - Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin is easily the player on this list who performed the best. He's the 'unsung hero' of this game in many ways. His great blocking allowed Stetson Bennett the time in the pocket to fire down field to the other players on this list.
Lampkin ended the first week of Preseason ranked as the 2nd best iOL in the league, and had 32 snaps with 0 pressures.
The tape shows the exact same thing that the stat sheet does. Every snap it seemed he was able to create a hole for Corum, Hunter or Schrader to sneak through, or plant his feet and prevent the rusher from moving forward.
The only downside of Lampkin's game, is his size. It is the lone reason he went undrafted. This won't be a problem however, if the Rams continue to utilize him at center.
Game Stats:
32 Snaps
0 Pressures
HB - Cody Schrader
Cody Schrader made his name known late in the game on Saturday night. He didn't get nearly the snaps that Corum or Hunter got throughout the game, but he was on field with a few minutes left. He made as much of an impact with those plays as one can make.
In the 4th quarter alone, he had a 22-yard return. Then, he followed that up with 59 yards over only 5 carries. Finally, to cap it off, he managed to score a receiving touchdown.
Cody Schrader has in my eyes, definitely earned a spot on the 53-man roster as RB4.
Game Stats:
5 Attempts
59 Yards
1 Reception
9 Yards
1 Touchdown
1 Return
22 Yards
S - Nate Valcarcel
Finally, to cap this list off, I want to highlight Nate Valcarcel.
Valcarcel, like Schrader didn't get many snaps to begin the game but towards the end he was making plays every snap. I started clearly noticing a pattern after a few plays of him out there. He was the one making the tackle practically every play. He flew around the field play after play after play.
His coverage had some small issues but he's a kind of player the Rams don't really have. The other Rams safeties all have a linebacker style of play, Valcarcel is a pure safety.
He had a specific play in coverage, he got spun around a bit but quickly recovered, and lunged after a Cowboys player attempting to catch the ball, and pulled the ball out of the players hands before he was able to secure it to the ground.
Valcarcel probably has some of the worst odds to make the team, but plays like that never go unnoticed by Sean McVay.
Game Stats:
10 Total Tackles
5 Solo Tackles
1 Pass Break Up
