As the Los Angeles Rams gear up for the 2025 NFL season, kicking off in just over a week; a new free agent on the market could peak Les Snead's interest.
Veteran Safety Jabrill Peppers was released by the New England Patriots today (August 29th). There have been few details so far on the reasoning behind the move. Obviously, it could be an injury or a personal dispute. Maybe Peppers wanted out, or he simply wasn't a part of New England's long-term plans.
Peppers' suffered a hamstring injury and was sidelined for a part of the 2024 season, despite this he was able to total a combined 40 tackles, and an interception.
When fans of any team see a quality player hit the market, they immediately jump on social media; calling on their franchise to pick the player up. However, in this instance it may be a perfect match for the Rams.
Sean McVay has a tendency to use his physical safeties as hybrid linebackers. Even as recently as this offseason, Rams S Jaylen McCollough was listed at inside linebacker for a portion of time. Jabrill Peppers fits that bill especially well.
It all comes down to price. If Les Snead can get Peppers for a reasonable price, on a short-term deal, he should pounce at the opportunity. Jabrill Peppers presence has the possiblity take the Rams secondary from 'good' to 'great'.
