MOCK: Rams Trade TE Colby Parkinson, Get Draft Capital

Throughout reporting on the Rams 53-man roster predictions, I've encountered a bit of an issue surrounding the TE position; there's too many unimpactful players.
The Rams drafted hopeful future star Terrance Ferguson as their first pick in the 2025 Draft. His position on the team is all but confirmed, and he appears to be a solid player after seeing what he's accomplished at camp and in his two receptions against the Browns in the final week of preseason.
Now, looking around the room there's also veteran Tyler Higbee. Higbee is arguably the best tight end the Rams have ever had and when he's able to stay on the field, he's very impactful. Higbee alone elevates the Rams offense to a new level. That was visible once he returned against the New York Jets last season.
Behind Higbee though, it becomes a bit more interesting. The Rams have third year player Davis Allen, who has had an outstanding camp according to insiders, and his big frame could be useful if he gets onto the field more often. You also have Colby Parkinson.
Parkinson was a free agent signing last offseason, with the Rams hoping he could be a serviceable player with Higbee missing the majority of the season. He was granted a 3-year, $22,500,000 contract in Los Angeles.
With all that money, you'd expect him to be an incredible weapon for the team, but he was not that. Not to say he was bad per se, but he was not worth the money and with the depth in the room, there's really no reason to keep Parkinson around if you can shop him around the league.
I began to look around the league, and found the perfect fit.
Projection: Rams Trade TE Colby Parkinson to Miami Dolphins for 2026 5th Round Pick
Rams Receive:
Dolphins' 2026 5th Round Pick (Pick # TBD)
Dolphins Receive:
TE Colby Parkinson
This trade makes a lot of sense for both parties. Miami needs help at the position after trading Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Parkinson's blocking ability could be a huge help in keeping QB Tua Tagovailoa protected on the field.
For the Rams, they receive another late round draft pick, which they are notorious for turning into great value players and future starters. In this situation, the Dolphins would eat the entirety of Parkinson's contract.Â
In turn, the Rams would free up around $7,000,000-8,000,000 in cap space which they could use to extend players or potentially bring in another weapon.
What do you think? If you had the ability to accept or turn down the trade, which road would you take?
